Players each control a unique alien race with a game-breaking power. They'll challenge each other in encounters to gain control of planets. Each encounter involves playing cards, negotiating (or backstabbing!), and using their alien power to gain the upper hand. The first player to control five of their opponent's planets wins this intense and strategic battle for galactic dominance.

In Cosmic Encounter Duel, you don't form alliances in the same way as the original Cosmic Encounter. Instead, you strategically use your cards and alien powers to manipulate the outcome of encounters, sometimes indirectly benefiting your opponent to achieve a larger goal.
If both players run out of ships simultaneously, the game typically ends in a draw, although specific alien powers or card effects might alter this outcome.
While some alien powers may be similar, Cosmic Encounter Duel features a curated selection of powers designed for a 2-player experience. Many have been adjusted to be balanced and effective in a head-to-head format.
The destiny deck determines which player you will encounter on your turn. It ensures there is no player elimination and keeps each game quick and dynamic.
